This IS a beautiful photo. I like the color combinations with the bug, the leaf, and the flowers...
A critique? officially, I can't give one, but!!!!
I like the effect of dimensionality you gave the pic with the blurring of both foreground and background. The colors stand out well and the photo has a feeling of life. My one "complaint", IMO, the foreground might be well to be cropped a bit, but, as I said, my opinion. Why? It catches a lot of attention from the flower, which, to me, is the main focus of the picture.
I understand about the depth of field. While I DO know about a fair number of technical aspects of photography, my liddle camera, a spavined old digital model, won't do anything fancy.
All it does is take pics: no depth of field, no way to time it (that I can find!), no way to zoom in or out or anything else but snap pics.
Thus, when I take photos, I try my best to take pics of scenes that, if the camera catches them, it will look good to me and be good for my purposes. I can digitally fool around with psics as good as most anyone in the business, but to me, this is straight photography...your flowers.
The kind of photos I myself prefer bring things to mind...moods, places, maybe a place for fairies to gather and talk with dragons..or dragonflies, or maybe it brings memories of past meetings. Your sunset pic does that.
I understand. I used to have one of those compact cameras. It was difficult to get a decent photo
I see. That's interesting. Ya my sunset photo reminds me of old memories. Many days months have passed since I took that shot. There are also other photos in my gallery that bring back old memories.
